Brief
Company Profile:
Help the Animals, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill animal shelter dedicated to providing a safe haven for homeless pets until they can be placed in responsible, loving homes.
Goal:
Branding & marketing the shelter in a way as to increase community volunteer involvement & donations, adoptions while being able to make improvements to the physical shelter and the conditions of the animals harbored there.
Achievements:
- The campaigns brought in much needed high-dollar donations to upgrade the facility kennels, drainage, structure and implement progressive adoption and training programs.
- I spearheaded the volunteer program as volunteer coordinator, specializing in training "bad behavior" dogs and involving the community while improving the dogs prospects for adoption. When I first became involved there were dogs that were there up to 8 years, with the new programs in place it went down to 8 months.
- Adoption rates, community awareness and volunteer hours picked up tremendously allowing them to transfer in dogs and cats from the city shelter who would have otherwise been euthanized for space at the time.
- The community becoming involved in the shelter lead to an upswing in activism regarding local animal laws & their enforcement, and restrictions on new puppy mill permits.
